Are Your Teeth in Danger of Toothaches?

Posted .

Are your teeth in danger of toothaches? Although toothaches could be the result of a variety of causes, most likely a toothache occurs when the nerve endings in a tooth have been damaged. Oftentimes, this can be the result of blunt trauma or a hole in your tooth enamel.

If you have a hole in your tooth enamel, it is possible for harmful bacteria to enter and damage the pulp. Within the pulp lies the connective tissue, blood vessels, and nerve endings of the tooth, making it severely painful when damaged. If you have cracked or chipped tooth enamel, visit your dentist as soon as possible to treat it and close the gap.

Visible signs of toothaches can often be found. This includes abscesses around a tooth, noticeable discharge, and severe swelling or inflammation. Damage to your gums may also be present, especially if the cause of the toothache linked to a tooth eruption above the gum line. Other signs include fevers, chills, and rashes that cannot be easily explained or diagnosed.
